If you would like to change how much federal and state taxes are withheld from each paycheck, you’ll need to fill out a new federal W-4 and/or state withholding form.
You can update the information from the form(s) directly in your Workful account to ensure your next paycheck is accurate. After updating your info online, share a copy of the withholding form(s) with your employer to keep in your personnel file.

Switching to the updated federal W-4
The IRS released a new version of the federal W-4 for 2020. If you would like to update your withholding info after January 1, 2020, you’ll need to use the newer version.
This version is significantly different than previous versions. We recommend using the IRS tax withholding estimator and/or downloading a copy of the form before updating your info inside Workful.
Once you’re ready to update your tax withholdings in Workful, click My Profile from the main menu.
Then, click Edit beside “Federal Taxes.”
Click ENTER W-4.
Enter your new federal withholding info.

Workful’s withholding information doesn’t look like my state’s withholding form. What do I do?
- Ohio – Some public-school districts in Ohio have an income tax. Your employer will know which districts impose this tax, so inform your employer of the school district you live in. If your school district imposes an income tax, your employer will withhold it as an additional withholding.
- Pennsylvania – Enter your Federal withholding status under your state withholding information. Pennsylvania has a flat income tax rate of 3.07%.
- New Jersey – Under your state withholding information, choose your filing status (Single or Married) and enter any state allowances you are claiming.
