An employee will receive a W-2 at the end of the year. To add a new employee to your Workful account, click Team Members on your main menu.
Then, click ADD TEAM MEMBER.
Select “Employee (W-2).”
Add a team member
Enter the team member’s first and last name.
Enter the worker’s job title (optional).
Select the primary type of wage the employee will earn – hourly, salary (no overtime), salary (eligible for overtime), or owner’s draw.
Enter how much you’ll pay the team member. For example, $12 per hour, $3,000 per month, or $36,000 per year.
Click SAVE & CONTINUE.
Enter personal info
Enter the employee’s Social Security number, birth date, and phone number. We’ll use this info to fill out new hire reports and other tax forms.
Enter their email address.
If you want your employee to create their own Workful account, check the box beside "Check this box to send your team member a Welcome email to set up their employee profile."
When you save their info, we'll send them an email with instructions on how to create their account.
Enter the worker’s home address.
Click SAVE & CONTINUE.
Enter tax info
Use the employee’s federal W-4 to tell us how much to withhold in federal income tax each paycheck.
Then, use the team member’s state W-4 to tell us how much to withhold in state income tax each paycheck.
If you deduct anything from the worker’s paycheck, like health insurance premiums or retirement contributions, select the type of deduction and enter a description.
Then, select whether you’ll deduct a fixed amount or a percentage.
Enter how much to deduct from each paycheck.
Click SAVE & CONTINUE.
How will you pay this team member?
Select whether you’ll pay the employee by direct deposit or printed check.
If you choose printed check, we’ll create a PDF that you can print on your check stock and deliver to the employee.
If you choose to pay them by direct deposit, enter the team member’s banking info. We’ll deposit the employee’s paycheck into their bank account on payday.
Click SAVE & CONTINUE.
